INSTALLATIONS
To create an environment in space is not a simple task. Even more complex is to create an environment that reacts to the actions of individuals who inhabit that place. An artist who creates interactive installations formulates a nature with its own, original dynamics, reconfiguring our habits of moving in space, of listening to the world, of observing architecture, of relating to other individuals.
ELUCIDATING FEEDBACK
"Elucidating feedback" is a brain-controlled installation about the creativity inherent in the act of observation. The more attention is paid, the more pattern is formed; as less attention is paid, the pattern breaks back into static. This is intended to form a feedback loop between the user's attention and the subject of their attention.
MOGEES
"Mogees" is a contact microphone-based system for the augmentation of sound objects. With this system, the acoustic properties of common daily objects are analysed in real-time and augmented in order to interact with them as musical devices
PLEASE SMILE
When there are no humans within the view of the camera, the five robotic skeleton arms choose the default position, which is bending their elbows and wrists near the wall. When human steps within the camera view, the arms point at the human and follow his/her movements. Then, when someone smiles in front of it, the five arms wave their hands. Through artwork such as "Please Smile," Hye Yeon Nam would like to foster positive audience behaviors.
ADA
Filled up with helium, floating freely in the room, a transparent, membrane-like globe, spiked with charcoals that leave marks on the walls, ceilings and floors; marks which "ADA" produces quite autonomously, although moved by a visitor. "ADA" is a vital performance machine, and her patterns of lines and points get more and more complex as the number of the audience playing-in increases.
BODY PAINT
"Body Paint" is an interactive installation allowing users to paint on a virtual canvas with their body, interpreting movement, gestures and dance into evolving compositions. The interaction is simple, movement creates paint. Different aspects of the motion: size, speed, acceleration, curvature all have an effect on the outcome: strokes, splashes, drips, spirals; and is left up to the users to play and discover.
XYZ
"XYZ" is a sonorous-spatial-temporal installation which follows variable regulations collected through the data of each interactor: the pulsation of the music is determined by cardiac frequency, the timbre of each fragment is determined by the height of the visitor and the tonality, by the weight. Each person generates 3 data, which will be the reference to create a single sonority.
SOLO (SOIL)
"SOIL" recreates in a solid form the water surface, in a counterpoint between matters. The moving metal is seen as liquid. It reacts to the presence of one or several simultaneous interactors, and reproduces a game between force and balance. Through a sequence of causalities, each plate propagates light and sound through the progressive animation of the discretized surface.
SIX EASY PIECES
"Six Easy Pieces" is the last part of the Secrets Trilogy; a three-part cycle exploring the imperceptible conditions that frame life. Reynold Reynolds deconstructs film as the perfect synthesis of art and technology and the process of capturing, recording and bringing it back to life. The work connects art and science, focusing on space and time and romantically refers to an age when artists and scientists had similar concerns and were often one and the same person.
BEATVOX
A microphone-controlled drumkit.Renowned as an artist for his projects questioning the materiality of sound, Yuri Suzuki harnesses the principles of augmented reality to interpret them in the realm of sound.
